๐ง Money Mindset ๐ When It Pays to Claim Social Security Early. (Barron's) โ๏ธ LL Money Do Get and use your Social Security online account. I love online government agency accounts. They're a nice peek behind the curtain of bureaucracy, demystifying random taxes and withholdings I pay as an employee and employer. Your โSocial Security accountโ has online access, so you can view your annual statement, request a new Social Security card, and view your eligibility and earnings. It's fascinating and helpful. For example, if you're calculating โhow long your projected retirement savings will lastโ and want to include your estimated Social Security retirement benefits (โFuture You - #103โ), you can log in and see your estimated SSA monthly benefit at early, full, and delayed retirement. There's also information about disability, Medicare, and more in there. To boot, a few weeks ago, I wrote about โMagical IRS Accounts - #99โ, telling you your future self will thank you for having an online IRS account; the account you use to log in to your IRS account is the same account you use to log in to your online Social Security account (for most, at least). Anyway, like all my suggestions, this is an offensive money move. It ensures you are in step with your money in and money out, and you stay on top of any missing or incorrect information so there are no stressful surprises. Fun. Also, your Q2 estimated taxes are due on Monday, June 17th. If you haven't already set up your online IRS account, this is an excellent time to do it. ๐๏ธ Important dates.
Your fan, LL Thanks for reading. |
